Trying to make a card for men is always tricky but especially so for Valentines. I knew I wanted to use my Sizzix Heart Lace Embossing Die with my Core-dinations paper. This lets the paper core show through on the embossed part of the heart. I looked through my papers and found some with a grey theme to make the card more masculine. I hope my husband likes it!
And a quick update as I’ve been a little naughty and not linked to the blog challenge I’ve entered this card into. It is of course the fabulous Inkspirational 😉
So my craft stash started out small but soon grew! In order to make my wedding invitations I needed an embossing machine and after much deliberation I chose the Sizzix Bigshot. In addition I needed scoring board for making my own cards.
My collection of papers, stamps, inks, dies and embossing folders has expanded rapidly mainly thanks to the excellent craft magazines now available.
I also now have a heat embossing tool and powders which I love.
A good paper cutter is essential. I use both a craft knife and pad as well as a roller blade paper trimmer.
The next challenge for me is to learn how to use alcohol pens properly! Watch this space!
So my first dabble into card making was when I decided to add more pressure to my wedding planning and make my own wedding invitations!
I just couldn’t find anything ready made that I liked!
The semi circle flaps were hand cut before being embossed with Cuttlebug Floral Fantasy embossing folder. The inserts were professionally printed by a relative and it was all tied together with a double sided silk ribbon bow. The final card measured 6″ square.

Hello and good evening! I’ve decided to jump in with both feet and create myself a little Blog spot (for my own amusement?, for your entertainment?, just because I don’t have enough in my life? (see the about page for some context here!)) so sit back, relax with a cuppa and enjoy a few piccies of some of my play time!
